Message

Elevated API error rates

Details

We have a high degree of confidence that our current mitigation efforts will be successful, however it will take a short time to complete. As the mitigation proceeds, we expect to see incremental recovery until we are fully recovered. We will provide you with a further update by 12:45 PM PDT.

The issue is also affecting services that depend on EC2 such as EKS, ECS and Workspaces. Instances that are already launched continue to operate normally.

EKS Managed Node Group create and update operations are failing intermittently. Customers can create a new Managed Node Group by specifying subnets in the unaffected Availability Zones.

Message

Elevated API error rates

Details

We continue to experience elevated API error rates in a single Availability Zone (usgw1-az1) in the US-GOV-WEST-1 Region. We are working on multiple parallel paths to mitigate the issue. Instances currently running remain unaffected, however, API calls to create, modify or terminate the instances in the affected Availability Zone are not working. APIs calls directed to launch instances targeting the non-impacted Availability Zones are working. While we do not have an estimate for recovery at this time, we are tracking the progress and will provide you with another update by 11:45 AM PDT.

Increased Error Rates

Details

We continue to see recovery of the error rates and latencies for the DynamoDB APIs in the US-WEST-2 Region. Error rates and latencies are close to normal levels but we continue to work towards full resolution. Other AWS services are also seeing recovery. We will continue to keep you updated on our progress.

Message

Increased Error Rates and Delays

Details

We continue to work on resolving the error rates and increased delays in network propagation for newly launched EC2 instances in a single Availability Zone (use-az2) in US-EAST-1 Region. For AWS services, we have worked to mitigate impact by shifting network traffic away from the affected Availability Zone (use-az2). For customer applications, if you are able to shift away from the affected Availability Zone (use-az2) it may help to mitigate the impact as we work to identify the root cause and resolve the issue.

Network Connectivity Issues

Details

We continue to work towards resolving the increased networking latencies and errors affecting Availability Zones (usw2-az1 and usw2-az2) in the US-WEST-2 Region. We have now seen network mapping propagation latencies return to normal levels in both usw2-az1 and usw2-az2 Availability Zones. At this stage, all EC2 instance launches and network configuration changes are operating normally. We’re continuing to monitor network mapping latencies and will provide a final update once all has been confirmed to be operating normally.

About Our Amazon Elastic MapReduce Status Page Integration

Amazon Elastic MapReduce is a Cloud Infrastructure solution that StatusGator has been monitoring since March 2015. Over the past about 9 years, we have collected data on on more than 1,644 outages that affected Amazon Elastic MapReduce users. When Amazon Elastic MapReduce publishes downtime on their status page, they do so across 4,834 components and 31 groups using 3 different statuses: up, warn, and down which we use to provide granular uptime metrics and notifications.

More than 3,900 StatusGator users monitor Amazon Elastic MapReduce to get notified when it's down or has an outage. This makes it one of the most popular cloud infrastructure services monitored on our platform. We've sent more than 762,400 notifications to our users about Amazon Elastic MapReduce incidents, providing transparency and peace of mind. You can get alerts by signing up for a free StatusGator account.

If Amazon Elastic MapReduce is having system outages or experiencing other critical issues, red down notifications appear on the status page. In most cases, it means that core functions are not working properly, or there is some other serious customer-impacting event underway.

Warn notifications are used when Amazon Elastic MapReduce is undergoing a non-critical issue like minor service issues, performance degradation, non-core bugs, capacity issues, or problems affecting a small number of users.

Amazon Elastic MapReduce does not post separate notifications for planned maintenance work so we are unable to send notifications when maintenance windows begin. If you need Amazon Elastic MapReduce maintenance notifications, please email us.

Amazon Elastic MapReduce does not publish a feed of proactive maintenance events on their status page at this time. If they do, be sure to let us know and we'll aggregate Amazon Elastic MapReduce maintenance events into your unified calendar.

When Amazon Elastic MapReduce posts issues on their status page, we collect the main headline message and include that brief information or overview in notifications to StatusGator subscribers.

When Amazon Elastic MapReduce has outages or other service-impacting events on their status page, we pull down the detailed informational updates and include them in notifications. These messages often include the current details about how the problem is being mitigated, or when the next update will occur.

Because Amazon Elastic MapReduce has several components, each with their individual statuses, StatusGator can differentiate the status of each component in our notifications to you. This means, you can filter your status page notifications based on the services, regions, or components you utilize. This is an essential feature for complex services with many components or services spread out across many regions.
